The Most Important Legal Case Of Our Time

A man was listed as registered sex offender by a data company offering criminal records of neighbors for a fee. A neighbor subscribed, and than alerted the community. The trouble is, the man was not a sex offender.

The man is now suing both the gossip queen and the data company for slander and libel.

In an age when personal data is a commodity bought and traded, and when this information can be used against people seeking jobs, housing, loans, or other important life changing moments, protecting personal information and ensuring the accuracy of that information is of the highest priority.

If the man wins, personal data brokers may be more apt to double check their databases before defaming a person. Credit agencies, criminal databases, and other information sources would be held accountable for reporting false and malicious information.

On the other hand, if the man loses, there very could be a time when corporations wrecklessly make false accustations directed at innocent people.
