Too Much Fun!
In case you haven't been depressed enough about your stipend lately, give the Cost of Living Calculator a whirl.
Of particular interest, a salary of $36,000 in Jersey City is equivilant to $42,000 in New York, New York. Of course there must be some inaccuracies with this sort of thing, and certainly even within different sections of Manhattan; but costs are insane.

Actually, I'm not depressed about my stipend at all. Given that I pay significantly reduced rent, don't pay utilities at all, and have free health insurance, I imagine that my cost of living is better supported in New York than in East St. Dakron Slum City-polis or whatnot. I'd say that my stipend, combined with NYU's plenitful fringe benefits, is nearly equal to Uncle Scrooge's money bin.
Also, "too much fun" is clearly something that I say.
